I Don’t Crack Backs

With a certain type of chiropractic adjustment there may be an audible “pop” when the vertebra moves (I do this type of adjustment only about 10% of the time now...more about that to come.). This happens when a force is applied to a bone in a specific direction to restore mobility and function to a joint. The sound is made when there is a small movement (less than 1mm) between the adjacent joint surfaces and a vacuum is created. Gasses are drawn out of solution in the joint space. I could get much more technical about this but I think you get the idea.
When I palpate (which basically means feel) your spine I am locating areas where the vertebrae lack mobility and function. You will often experience tenderness in the area due to joint irritation and inflammation. There will often be nerve irritation associated with this inflammation. The nerves that come from your spine control all of the functions of your body; your digestion, your immune system, your muscles, heart, liver, lungs etc. That is why the health of your spine is so important. When your spine is out of alignment irritating nerves it affects the nerve signals and your body doesn’t work properly. You may experience fatigue, heartburn, headaches, reduced immune function to name a few of the symptoms you might have.
When I perform a chiropractic adjustment I am restoring alignment and proper function to the vertebrae so that the nerves through which you experience life are unimpeded. I am not cracking your back.
If you want to have your back cracked, have your husband/wife walk on your back....Chiropractors don't crack backs!
